Japanese traditional clothes "furisode"

Today I'll introduce furisode to you.

Furisode is a traditional costume worn by unmarried women on happy day. For example,it is worn when attending a coming of age ceremony, a graduation ceremony, or a wedding ceremony.
In addition, the most important feature about it is that married women cannot wear furisode. It is said that this is to prevent married women from being mistaken for not being married. Typically married women wear "tomesode", kimono with short sleeves.

This is furisode.

This is tomesode.
